![]() ' My CTS engine burns oil, so I add to the midpoint between the two cross-hatched areas because a higher target level might risk getting into the upper cross-hatched area where ' the engine could be damaged. The adjustable steering wheel like in my GMC truck would have been a lot nicer. Instead of 'FULL' oil level, the owner's manual and dipstick indicate only a ' proper operating range. Expensive but made for shorter people with its low roof line that requires some getting use to to try to get in. That clown talked to me like I knew nothing about cars My wife and I scrimped on my Army disability pay to buy what we thought would be a great car. They want me back after 1000 miles and if the oil is lower they will do an oil consumption test? If the oil is lower, isn't the car using oil? Do not need a test to figure that one out. I have always changed at 3K and easily get more than 200K on every car I have Go Figure? Where will the level be when the car sits for a good while? They will only change the oil after 5000 miles or when the idiot gauge says 20% left. He stops the car and immediately pulls the dip stick and the oil was MAGICALLY at the middle of the top crosshatch marks. I waited an hour for the guy at Johnson Caddy. Don’t overfill the engine above the MAX or FULL mark on the dipstick. Add more engine oil if the oil level is still under the MIN mark. Add a quart at a time, wait a few minutes, and check the level again. Since the car is new you might want to drain it, properly fill it will 7.5 quarts and then check the reading. Unscrew the cap by twisting it counterclockwise. Seems like a lot of oil burning to me since there are A properly filled engine should have 7.5 quarts of oil in it and the reading would be dead center of the hash marks on the dip stick. my oil was down to the top of the bottom cross hatch mark. Went in because after 2K miles after well paid for dealer maint. My service guy at the Dealers told me I could not read a dip stick.
